METHOD

Step 1

Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.

Step 3

Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the ground beef. Cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.

Step 5

Stir the vegetables and the beef together, then add the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Mix well.

Step 6

Season with salt, black pepper, and bay leaves. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7

Remove the bay leaves and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Step 8

Serve the Bolognese sauce over the spaghetti and top with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil. Enjoy!
