A classic Italian dish made with just spaghetti, garlic, olive oil, and a hint of red pepper flakes.
Boil a large pot of salted water and cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
While the spaghetti is cooking, thinly slice the garlic cloves.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add the sliced garlic. Sauté until the garlic is golden and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
Add red pepper flakes to the skillet and stir well.
Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve a cup of pasta water and drain the rest.
Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet and toss with the garlic oil. If it seems dry, add some reserved pasta water.
Season with salt and toss in chopped fresh parsley.
Serve the pasta hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
