Warm 1 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of butter in a small saucepan until the butter melts. Let it cool to lukewarm.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt.
In a separate bowl, dissolve 1 packet of active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons) in 1/4 cup of warm water. Let it sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
Add the milk and butter mixture, yeast mixture, and 2 large eggs to the flour mixture. Stir until no dry flour remains. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in the refrigerator overnight.
In the morning, roll the dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
Spread 1/2 cup of butter over the dough, leaving a small border. Mix 1 cup of brown sugar with 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon and sprinkle over the butter.
Roll tightly from the long side into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
Place the pieces into a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
While rolls are baking, make the icing by combining 4 ounces of softened cream cheese, 1/4 cup butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, and 2 tablespoons heavy cream in a bowl. Beat until smooth.
Spread the icing on warm rolls and serve immediately.
