In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Stir in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and beaten egg. Mix until a dough begins to form.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
Brush the melted butter over the dough. Sprinkle a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the top, followed by the chopped pecans.
Tightly roll up the dough, starting from the long side, and cut into 12 even slices.
Place the sliced rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
While the rolls are baking, make the maple glaze by mixing powdered sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Drizzle the warm rolls with maple glaze and let set for a few minutes before serving.
